Started in the U.S. in the 70’s, the Street Dance, born from Hip Hop culture, has changed and became part of the academic content.
Initially, in order to lead peace to American ghettos between the gangs and also as a way of fun, Street Dance is gaining more room, media and overcoming barriers. Besides social interaction, it also works at dance schools, as teaching source.
Mixing elements is allowed, and will vary according with the teacher or choreographer.
The street dance isn’t a dance with closed features. Allows, with that, the creation of new movements, which demonstrates other properties of this dance: innovation and creativity freedom.
It is a pleasant dance, vigorous and with peculiar swagger. Street Dance produces gains to coordination – motor, cardio-respiratory capacity, memory and alertness. There are no restrictions to practice this activity, only adaptation to each level and age.
